Anxious For Nothing

We are definitely living in trying times.   As a pastor, I’ve seen way too many people struggle under the weight of their current circumstances.  Burdened by anxiety and fear, many people are looking for help and encouragement so they can keep their heads above water.
Max Lucado, in his book “Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World”, invites his readers into an encouraging study of Philippians 4:6-7 where Apostle Paul challenges followers of Christ, “Do not be anxious about anything…” It provides some great insight and tools to help the believer navigate feelings of anxiousness and stress.  This was a great read, and if you’re looking for an encouraging book to read, grab yourself a copy.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the book:

  • This much is sure: it is not God’s will that you lead a life of perpetual anxiety.  It is not His will that you face every day with dread and trepidation
  •  You can’t run the world, but you can entrust it to God.
  •  If your belief system is strong, you will stand.  If it is weak, the storm will prevail.
  •  God’s answer for troubled times has always been the same: Heaven has an occupied throne.
  •  Since no one can take our Christ, no one can take our joy.
These were just a handful of quotes, but I hope you will take the time to check this book out if you or someone you know needs a little extra encouragement!

Until next time…
Pastor Wes
